What is rescreening?
Rescreening means replacing the screen mesh across your whole enclosure instead of patching individual panels. We remove all the old mesh, dispose of it, and install new screen with fresh spline so every panel is tight and uniform. If the aluminum frame coating is also faded or the screws are rusting, rescreening is usually done as part of a full pool cage restoration.
Signs you need a full rescreen
- Several panels are torn, loose or sagging
- The screen looks faded, cloudy or dirty even after cleaning
- The mesh feels brittle and tears when touched
- You have patched panels more than once
- Bugs are getting in through gaps you cannot find
Florida sun breaks down screen over time. Once most panels show their age, rescreening the whole enclosure looks better and costs less in the long run than repairing one panel at a time. If only a few panels are damaged, a pool screen repair may be all you need.
Screen types we install
- 18×14 fiberglass mesh. The standard insect screen used on most Florida enclosures. Good visibility and airflow.
- No-see-um mesh. A tighter weave that keeps out tiny biting insects. Popular for homes near lakes, ponds and wooded areas.
- Glas-Shield. Another screen option; ask us whether it suits your enclosure.
- Bronzetone. A bronze-colored mesh that pairs well with bronze frames.
We will help you choose based on your view, bugs and budget.
Our rescreening process
- Inspection. We check the frame, fasteners and spline channels to make sure the enclosure is ready for new screen.
- Remove old screen. All old mesh is taken out and disposed of.
- Prep the channels. We clean the spline channels so the new screen seats properly.
- Install new screen. Each panel is stretched and splined for a tight, even finish, roof and walls.
- Walk-through. We check every panel with you before we leave.
Upgrade the frame at the same time
When the screen is out, it is the best time to recoat the frame and replace rusted screws. Our full restoration adds upgraded fasteners and a premium marine-grade, 100% water-borne acrylic coating built to last roughly 10 years, backed by our 3-year warranty, for about 60% less than replacing the enclosure. Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to rescreen a pool enclosure?
It depends on the size of the enclosure, the number of panels and the screen type. Pricing depends on the size and condition of your enclosure, so we provide free on-site estimates.
How long does rescreening take?
A rescreen-only job takes about 5 days; the start date depends on our current schedule. A full restoration including coating typically takes about two weeks.
Which screen type should I choose?
Standard 18×14 fiberglass suits most homes. Choose no-see-um mesh if tiny insects are a problem near water or trees. Bronzetone pairs well with bronze frames. We will help you decide at the estimate.
Should I recoat the frame when I rescreen?
If the coating is faded or the screws are rusting, yes. With the screen already removed, it is the most efficient time to restore the frame.
Do you take away the old screen?
Yes. We remove and dispose of all the old mesh.
